THE PLANT CITY COMMUNITY CHORALE
IS EMBARKING ON OUR EIGHTH AMAZING SEASON!

In celebration of the New Year, The Plant City Community Chorale planned a concert to shake the community out of their collective January doldrums by offering a concert titled, Songs for a New Day

The concert was performed in the Sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church in Plant City on January 31, 2015.

“We selected pieces,” said Executive Director Barbara Avery, “which are funny, some are touching, and some will make the audience want to clap along with the singers—in other words we’re creating some excitement to brighten the winter months!”

Some of the works performed were Hernando’s Hideaway from Broadway’s The Pajama Game, Unchained Melody, Lean on Me, and Bridge Over Troubled Water.

The Lullabye of Birdland, a new arrangement based on the famous Charlie Parker piece, Birdland, and Simple Gifts, a Shaker hymn made famous by composer Aaron Copeland for his work, Appalachian Spring were also sung.

Like the Beat of a Drum featured Alaina Avery, a local percussionist, on the cajón a six-sided, box-shaped percussion instrument originally from Peru, and played by slapping the frong or rear faces with the hands. The audience thoroughly enjoyed this!

Over 75 people attended the concert and gave the Chorale a standing ovation when the singers ended the evening with their new anthem, Why We Sing.

PCCC is always excited to welcome new members!

We enjoy performing
music from a wide variety of styles, from Contemporary
to Broadway; from Americana to Spiritual.

We perform a minimum of one concert per season, but often have the opportunity
to present a second concert during some seasons.

We also participate in community events such Chamber of Commerce Events,
Empty Bowls, and carol singing at community assisted-living homes and
residential parks.   See our Calendar
page to mark your calendar.

If you enjoy the fellowship of singing in a choral group and would like to meet
new people and make new friends, our group is for you!
Please go to our Membership page
